Image Upload Problems

What’s going on

You tried to upload an image manually — either to an article, newsletter, or your Image Library — but it didn’t work. The upload failed silently, showed an error, or never appeared in the preview.

This usually comes down to file format, size, browser limitations, or upload session issues.

What to check

Here’s what to confirm before retrying:

  • File type is supported
Only .jpg, .jpeg, .png, and .webp files are allowed.
Other types (like .svg, .heic, or .gif) will fail silently.
  • File size is under 10MB
Large image files will fail to upload without a visible error. Most editorial images should stay under 5MB for performance anyway.
  • You're using a supported browser
Uploads are fully supported in Chrome, Safari, and Edge. Some Firefox or mobile versions may encounter issues.
  • The image isn't corrupted
If the file is saved from a non-standard export tool or cloud editor, it may contain incompatible metadata.

How to fix it

  1. Convert the file
If you're unsure about format or size, open the image in your OS’s photo viewer and re-save it as a .jpg or .png. Tools like Preview (Mac) or Paint (Windows) can do this quickly.
  2. Resize the image
If your file is over 10MB, use any basic image editor to reduce resolution or compress quality slightly.
  3. Try another browser
Switch to Chrome if you're using Firefox or another non-default browser.
  4. Refresh the page and re-upload
If your upload failed once, a full refresh can often clear the session and fix the issue.

If it keeps failing

If your image still won’t upload:

  • Confirm the file meets format and size rules
  • Try uploading a different image file to rule out corruption
  • Check your internet connection or upload speed (slow uploads may time out)

If all else fails, contact support and include:

  • The file name and type
  • Your browser and operating system
  • A screenshot of what happens when you try to upload

We’ll help troubleshoot or confirm if there’s a platform issue affecting uploads.
